eDocket

Here is exactly where eDocket works.

Compliance products love to imply national coverage. Ours is a product whose entire value is not over-claiming — so here is exactly where eDocket works today, and where it doesn't.

City & county permits

City of Houston · Harris County

Local permits are jurisdiction-specific, and ours are Houston and Harris County. Outside those, eDocket cannot give you a verified answer — so we don't sell you one.

  • Water heater replacement
  • Assumed name (DBA) — sole proprietor

State registrations & licences

Anywhere in Texas

These are issued by state authorities, so they work for a business at any Texas address — the authority is the same wherever you are.

  • Sales & use tax permit
  • LLC formation
  • Assumed name (DBA) — registered entity
  • Tobacco retailer permit
  • E-cigarette / vape retailer

The roadmap

No dates we can't keep. Order is driven by demand and by how long honest verification takes.

  1. Live today

Houston · Harris County · Texas state filings

7 modules whose rules a person has verified against the issuing authority, each dated on the modules page. Everything else on this site is marked Planned.

  2. In build

    Greater Houston metro

Deepening the Houston catalogue first — the business-opening spine, retail licensing, and the trades permits that come up most.

  3. Next

    Other Texas metros

Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio. Each jurisdiction is researched and human-verified before we claim it — not scraped and hoped for.

  4. Later

    Statewide Texas · then beyond

State-level licensing that already applies statewide expands first, because the authority is the same everywhere. City-level work follows demand.

What “covered” means

Covered means a person checked that module's rules against the issuing authority and signed off, on a date we publish. It does not mean we guessed well.

A covered module gives you

  • A determination of whether you need it, with the rule and its source attached.
  • The prerequisites, in the order they have to happen.
  • The form prepared from what you already told us.
  • The renewal or expiry date tracked from the day you file.

It never gives you

  • A fee figure we haven't confirmed — we link the authority's own schedule instead.
  • A signature or notary block filled in for you. Those stay blank by design.
  • A promise that a business name is available — only the Secretary of State can say that.
  • An answer at all where we don't have a verified rule.

Outside our jurisdictions

eDocket tells you it doesn't cover you, rather than producing a confident answer from rules that don't apply where you are. Join the waitlist below and your city moves up the list.
